The Natural World of Dernish Island
Whales, dolphins & basking sharks can be seen offshore from the high points of the island or from local boat (by arrangement)
A colony of sun-loving seals can be seen lolling about at low tide
If you like fishing, sea-trout can be caught in the channel nearby. Salmon too, also flat fish...but you need to be quicker than the seals!!
The weather is usually much drier out here on Dernish, so different species of wild flowers are all over the Island & the horses find them pretty tasty!
Thankfully there are no midges, unless you bring your own!!
